Server Setup

Eco can be played alone, but its economy and civic systems are designed for persistent shared worlds. A server is an operational commitment: configuration, backups, moderation and clear expectations matter as much as hardware.

  • Choose collaboration and experience settings for the expected population.
  • Set the meteor timer deliberately.
  • Publish rules, time zone, restart schedule and mod policy.
  • Test joining, world saving and restoration before public launch.
  • Keep automatic backups outside the active world directory.
  • Record every configuration change with a date and reason.
  1. Announce the maintenance window.
  2. Stop the server cleanly.
  3. Take and verify a backup.
  4. Change one configuration group.
  5. Start privately and inspect logs.
  6. Reopen, then record the result.
